AFSmartTMS User Guide (Internal)

Accessing AFSmartTMS

1. Go to AFS.net
2. Select Log In
3. Enter credentials
4. Choose SmartTMS if prompted

You’ll land on the Dashboard or Navigation Panel, depending on access.

Navigation Overview

Use the left panel to access:

• My Dashboard – Account insights
• My Quotes – Create and manage quotes
• My Shipments – Track and manage shipments
• Create Shipment – Book directly
• Settings – Saved data and profile

Dashboard

Provides a snapshot of account activity:

• Lifespan Stats – Quotes, shipments, deliveries, top carrier
• Service Reports – On-time %, OS&D, exceptions (refreshes every 24 hrs)
• Recent Shipments – Last 3 booked shipments
• Trends – Shipments vs quotes, total charges

Quotes

View Quotes

• Search by ZIP, carrier, date, or user
• Actions: View, Email, Book

Create a Quote

1. Enter origin & destination
2. Select mode (LTL, TL, Parcel, etc.)
3. Choose distribution method
4. Add container details
5. Select accessorials
6. Review carrier rates and Book Now or save

Tips

• Use Address Book to auto-fill locations
• Use Product List to skip manual container entry
• Use Suggest Class if freight class is unknown

Shipments

View & Manage

• Filter by BOL, PRO, carrier, date, or status
• View shipment details, transit map, ETA, and containers

Tracking

• Click PRO # for carrier tracking
• Use Shipment Tracking (SmartTrack) for visibility

Common Actions

• Edit or duplicate shipment
• Print labels or BOL
• View documents (POD, signed BOL)
• Resend confirmations
• Delete shipment (does not cancel pickup)

Create Shipment

Shipments can be created:

• From Create Shipment
• From a quote
• From a pending or existing shipment

Booking Flow

1. Locations & Times
2. Container Info (Hazmat prompts if applicable)
3. Service Type & Carrier
4. Accessorials
5. Cargo Coverage (optional)
6. Special Instructions
7. Review & Book

Notes

• Automatic coverage = up to $25/lb
• Only enter delivery windows if guaranteed service is required

After Booking

• System generates BOL (#SM…)
• Print BOL or labels (Zebra, Skid, Avery)
• Email confirmations with attachments

Settings

Key Tools

• Vendor Address Book – Save locations
• Product List – Save freight details
• Special Instructions – Reusable pickup/delivery notes
• Profile & Security – User info and password

All lists support CSV import/export.

Internal Notes

• Defaults (modes, times, addresses) can be set at the account level
• Required references can be enforced before booking
• SmartTrack supports shipments booked outside AFSmartTMS
